  • Incumbent assists in a variety of technical and specialized clerical tasks, to support library work such as, acquiring, processing, distributing and disposing of library materials and maintaining patron registrar files. Complies daily and monthly statistics, and submit reports for moneys collected.

    Maintains control over all public facing library technology assets via regular inventory and maintenance tasks. Acts as a liaison to local MCCS IT for all current and future library technology requirements. Assists customers with basic computer literacy questions and troubleshooting, to include regular workshop instruction.

    Establishes regular STEM programming and maintains the library’s makerspace. Provides instruction on all makerspace equipment. Assists customers with 3D printing, provides in-depth instruction on 3D printing applications, and effectively communicates concepts and requirements in a manner appropriate to given audiences. Keeps library director informed regarding makerspace issues, needs and continuous improvements.

    Acts as the government credit card holder for the library and makes purchases according to policy guidance and supervisory direction. Incumbent will also assist with general P&PD purchasing at the discretion of the P&PD branch head.

    Provides World Class customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness and/or property damage to library materials and/or show films. May train and provide technical guidance to other library employees. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    EVALUATIONS:

    Qualifications

    A minimum of one year of experience in responsible library support services or other related educational/information technology fields. Ability to operate office equipment such as: typewriter, calculator, microcomputer, 3D printer, laptop computers, tablets, and copier. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

    High School diploma or equivalent, Associates degree in computer technology or a certificate reflecting training in the field preferred.
